Description
This is raw fleece from a Soay sheep which is an ancient breed in Britain. This comes from a small flock which are well looked after and kept on pasture in England. As an ancient breed this fleece can be quite kempy and variable in length and shade so please bear this in mind when placing your order.
The colour is a lustrous dark and mid brown to chocolate with caramel paler tips the average length shown in the photos with the tape measure. Some fleeces have beautiful creamy white sections interspersed with the brown to give a marbled look.
As this ancient sheep breed shed their fleece naturally there are extremely limited quantities available each year and there is high demand. Please note that you may sometimes receive fleece that is shorn and not hand rooed. This is because some sheep do not shed their fleece and other factors such as weather can also affect things. If you have a particular preference please let me know when placing your order. 🙂
This is gorgeous for spinning, felting or many other crafts.
There is very little vm as these sheep have been at pasture in luscious green grass so this is not full of straw or daggings.
This is unwashed and just as it was shorn and the listing is for 100g.
I welcome customers from anywhere in the world. All my orders come beautifully wrapped and with a free treat.
